D.O.G.E employee who posted racist content gets job back
Marko Elez, a former government employee who resigned after racist and eugenicist social media posts were revealed, has been rehired by the Social Security Administration (SSA), a federal agency serving almost 70 million Americans. He previously worked at SpaceX, X, and the Treasury Department. His return follows support from Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and JD Vance. Leland Dudek, who was removed from his SSA role after allegedly leaking information to Musk's team, now oversees D.O.G.E. staff within the agency. D.O.G.E. claims read-only access to SSA systems. Elez's reinstatement coincides with Musk's plan, supported by Trump, to distribute $5,000 to every American household if D.O.G.E achieves its $2 trillion spending cut target. Trump also suggested using 20% of the savings for citizen payments and 20% for debt reduction. D.O.G.E. claims $55 billion in savings so far, primarily through contract cancellations and staff suspensions. Republican lawmakers are divided on the plan, citing concerns about fiscal responsibility and inflation, despite support from Trump and his economic advisor Kevin Hassett.
