Bybit gets 350k withdrawal requests following the hack, receives 40,000 ETH loan from Bitget
Bybit suffered a loss of $1.5 billion in digital assets due to a security breach of one of its offline wallets. This led to over 350,000 customer withdrawal requests. Bybit's CEO reported that nearly all of these requests (99.99%) have been processed, leaving only 2,100 outstanding. To assist with meeting these withdrawals, the cryptocurrency exchange Bitget provided Bybit with a loan of 40,000 ETH, equivalent to $106 million. An analysis firm has attributed the hack to the North Korean group Lazarus, known for stealing large amounts of cryptocurrency.
