Pump.fun Transfers $16M SOL to Buy Back 3B PUMP Tokens Can PUMP Recover?

Pump.fun is attempting to recover from a significant crash in the value of its PUMP token by spending $16 million (101,900 SOL) to buy back 3.04 billion PUMP tokens. This buyback is part of a larger $30.6 million program funded by fee revenue, aiming to boost the price after it plummeted 75% following its launch. Previously, Pump.fun had been selling SOL it received, totaling $741 million since May 2024. The buyback program allocates 25% of revenue to token holders, potentially providing substantial annual returns. The crash was partly due to a large concentration of tokens held by a few investors who quickly sold their holdings for profit. The token's structure, with a large percentage unlocked at launch, also contributed to selling pressure. The effort to recover the token's value faces challenges, including competition from LetsBonk and declining trading volumes on the Pump.fun platform.
