Nvidias CEO slows pace on push to lift H20 chips export restrictions

Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang is stepping back from actively lobbying for the easing of export restrictions on its H20 chips to China, believing it's now up to the U.S. and Chinese governments. He argues that U.S. companies are missing out on a potentially $50 billion AI market in China, and that China already has access to similar technology from companies like Huawei. Nvidia lost approximately $4.5 billion in potential revenue due to restrictions on H20 chip sales in May, and its market share in China has declined by almost half, costing the company over $5 million. The U.S. has eased restrictions on chip design software exports to China, while China will review rare earth export applications. Nvidia hopes that lifting export controls will help it regain market leadership in China and that more advanced chips can be shipped there over time.
