Hack Victims Say Tornado Cash Offered No Help in the Wake of Exploits: Day 2 of Roman Storm Trial

During the second day of Roman Storm's trial, victims of hacks and scams testified that Tornado Cash offered little to no help in recovering stolen funds that were laundered through the platform. One victim lost nearly $250,000 in a scam, while crypto exchange BitMart was hacked for almost $200 million in 2021, and Sky Mavis, the company behind Axie Infinity, lost over $625 million in an exploit. Prosecutors are trying to portray Storm as unwilling to assist victims or prevent criminals from using Tornado Cash. Storm's defense argues that the decentralized nature of Tornado Cash made it impossible for him to retrieve funds. BitMart's lawyer acknowledged that their stolen funds also went through other platforms, and Sky Mavis recovered $6 million that did not go through Tornado Cash.
