Tesla is launching a longer, six-seat Model Y SUV in China this autumn
Tesla is launching a longer, six-seat version of its Model Y SUV, called the Model Y L, in China this autumn. The new model is about 15 centimeters (5.9 inches) longer than the standard version. This move is aimed at attracting Chinese customers and increasing market share amid growing competition from local EV brands like BYD and Xiaomi. LG New Energy will supply the batteries for the Model Y L. Tesla has not yet announced the price or specific release date, but confirmed the launch via its Weibo account. The base Model Y in China starts at 263,500 yuan (approximately $36,700).
