US House Clears Procedural Hurdle for Crypto Bills: Heres Timeline for Final Votes on GENIUS and CLARITY Act
The U.S. House of Representatives has moved forward with three crypto-related bills: the GENIUS Act, the CLARITY Act, and an anti-CBDC bill. This happened after a procedural vote that initially failed but ultimately passed with 217 yes votes against 212 no votes, setting a House record for the longest vote at ten hours. The shift in votes was partly influenced by former President Trump urging Republicans to support the bills and the inclusion of anti-CBDC language in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The House is expected to vote on the GENIUS Act today, with the CLARITY Act vote scheduled for next week. The anti-CBDC provision, now part of the NDAA, has no set vote date yet.
