DEA and FBI Seize $10M in Crypto From Sinaloa Cartel in Explosive US Drug Bust
US law enforcement, including the DEA and FBI, seized $10 million in cryptocurrency from the Sinaloa cartel in Miami as part of a larger multi-state drug bust. This seizure is part of an effort to disrupt the cartels' financial operations, as they increasingly use cryptocurrency to hide illegal transactions. The broader operation since January 2025 has resulted in the seizure of approximately 44 million fentanyl pills, 4,500 pounds of fentanyl powder, nearly 65,000 pounds of methamphetamine, and over 201,500 pounds of cocaine, along with over 2,100 fentanyl-related arrests across states like Florida, Texas, California, and South Carolina. Authorities are using blockchain analysis tools to trace and seize crypto linked to these illegal activities, aiming to dismantle the cartels' financial networks.
