Call of Duty at its most unpopular levels ahead of Black Ops 7 reveal
Call of Duty is experiencing a decline in player engagement ahead of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 reveal scheduled for August 19. SteamCharts data from July 17 shows only 27,900 active users, with a 24-hour peak of 66,798, which is an 86% decrease from its all-time peak of 488,897. Claims of players spending 25 billion hours in the game are being questioned due to lack of evidence. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's addition to Xbox Game Pass only resulted in a 2% increase in subscriptions. While player numbers initially rose after Black Ops 6's debut, they declined to 20.6 million by March 2025. The community is expressing frustration with the game's content and updates, citing issues such as poor anti-cheat measures and unbalanced gameplay. Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play spinoff, maintains a higher level of engagement with 1 to 3 million daily active users and 30 to 50 million monthly users.
