House Advances Crypto Bills After Record Nine-Hour Vote
The U.S. House of Representatives has moved forward with considering cryptocurrency legislation after a lengthy vote. By a vote of 217-212, House Resolution 580 was adopted, allowing for floor debate on three digital asset bills. These bills include the GENIUS Act, which would regulate stablecoins, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aims to divide cryptocurrency oversight between the SEC and CFTC, and the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, which seeks to prevent the Federal Reserve from issuing a retail central bank digital currency. An earlier attempt to advance the package failed with a vote of 196-223.
